Monday marked Memorial Day, and with that came the annual Faribault Memorial Day parade through downtown Faribault and program in Central Park.

Past years have seen low temperatures and constant rain showers, but yesterday's weather was ideal for commemorating and remembering those who have died in service to our country. With the sun shining, the annual Memorial Day parade traveled along Central Avenue through downtown Faribault and concluded in Central Park where a program followed. I recently shared footage from the 1984 Memorial Day Parade (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) which you can watch and see that much has changed, and yet, much has stayed the same. Some structural changes have been made to downtown Faribault (although the pictures below were taken closer to Central Park), some businesses have left and new ones established, and the fashions have changed. But much remains the same -- the very tradition of the Memorial Day and honoring those who have served being one of them. But also the classic cars, horses, Boy Scouts, and marching bands that contribute to the parade.
