Undated (KROC AM News) - The bitterly cold air that has blanketed northeastern Minnesota the past few days is setting some weather records.

It dropped to -37 in International Falls Wednesday, breaking the previous mark of -32 degrees set in 1924. Hibbing also set a record at -28 while Brainerd tied its record at -30.

The National Weather Service also received reports of -40 degrees in Embarrass and -41 in the town of Cotton.

Rochester’s low on Wednesday was -16 degrees, the coldest it’s been in the city since Dec 18, 2016 when the temperature fell to -25.
