I was like a lot of people my age. Sunday nights I would tune into the old KDWB 63 (on am radio) and listen to Casey Kasem and American Top 40.  Even though I think it ran past my bed time in the early 70's, I had to listen to see if I guessed correctly what the number one song would be that week.  And I enjoyed listening to the requests and dedications that were thrown in to help fill the time.  I was always wondering how did they put the show together. How did it run on different stations around the country at different times.  I knew then that I had an interest in radio and what it was all about.  The first time I heard Shaggy speak on Scooby Doo, I said."hey that sound's like Casey Kasem. And then I looked at the credits (the networks would let you read the credits then)and sure enough it was.  Recently I remembered the work he used to do to helping out Jerry Lewis with with Telethon every Labor Day. I knew he was not doing well of late and the end would soon be here. But you keep hoping when it's one of your Idols.

Thanks to you Casey for sort of setting the bar for us.  Rest in Peace. And I will leave you with Casey's parting words to us each week.

"Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
