Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Yes, it was hot across southern Minnesota Saturday, along with summerlike humidity.

Temperatures climbed into the upper 80s and low/mid 90s from Hokah to the Twin Cities and Mankato.

The highest reading reported by the National Weather Service was 97 degrees in Madison. It hit 92 in Minneapolis and the high humidity created heat index readings (feels like temps) in the mid to upper 90s.

Rochester’s official high was 90, the first 90-degree day since July 12th. The record for Saturday’s date is 96 degrees. Normally this time of the year, high temps are around 70 degrees.

It will warm into the mid-80s Sunday and then slowly cool down this week. Rain may also fall this week for the first time since Sept. 5th.

The summer of 2018 will officially end Saturday night when the world observes the autumnal equinox.
