Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn says two women suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Cannon City Township on Wednesday afternoon.

The call came in at 3:15PM and, in addition to Rice County Sheriff's deputies, Faribault Fire and Rescue, North Ambulance and North Air Care all were dispatched to the accident in the 17800 block of Cannon City Boulevard in Cannon City Township.

The accident happened just south of the Cannon City Community Church.

Rice County Sgt. Blaine Smith says the vehicle was driven by 21-year-old Paige Ersland of Morristown, and she was heading south on Cannon City Boulevard when the vehicle left the roadway and went into the west ditch, striking a driveway embankment. The vehicle launched and tumbled end over end before coming to rest on its tires.

A passenger was identified as 21-year-old Brittani Alcorn of Farmington.

Smith says the two women appeared to have potentially critical injuries.

Smith says Alcorn was airlifted from the scene and Ersland transported by ground ambulance to District One Hospital in Faribault and then airlifted.

The preliminary investigation indicates neither woman was wearing a seatbelt.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol in investigating the crash.
