On this day in rock history, Jon Bon Jovi went solo with Blaze of Glory, the 1990 soundtrack to the movie Young Guns II. Its title track went to No. 1, and the singer made a brief cameo in the film.

Also in 1990, Extreme released Pornograffiti, which featured the blockbusters, "More Than Words" and "Hole Hearted." Almost a decade earlier, Black Sabbath put out Born Again, the only album they recorded with Ian Gillan of Deep Purple as their lead singer. In 1970, the Moody Blues came out with their sixth record, A Question of Balance, which led off with their hit, "Question."

In 1974, Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band married actress Faye Dunaway, known for her roles in Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown and Network. The couple divorced in 1979, a year before the J. Geils Band put out a Wolf-penned Top 40 single called "Love Stinks."

Finally, we wish a happy 57th birthday to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. But we can't help but notice that his name was used in one of the most famous Saturday Night Live sketches of all time, as the record producer played by Christopher Walken who demanded that Blue Oyster Cult use "more cowbell" on "Don't Fear the Reaper."
