The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal baseball team travels to Wells to face United South Central on Thursday for their first playoff game. The Cardinals (3-13) are the No. 7 seed and the Rebels (10-5) are No. 2 in the West Subsection of Section 1 Class A.

The No. 1 seed went to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (12-5) and they host Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger (6-10) Thursday.

Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling told us on the Hayfield Coaches Show Saturday the Bulldogs were very deserving of the top seed with two very good pitchers leading the way.

The No. 3 seed is Southland (10-8) with No. 6 Blooming Prairie (4-14) going there, and the Hayfield Vikings (8-11) received the No. 4 seed and host Lyle/Pacelli (11-5). Not an easy draw.

The first round is single elimination and then it goes to double elimination.

In the East Subsection, Wabasha-Kellogg (11-8) received the top seed and will host the winner of Monday's game between Mabel-Canton (3-13) and Houston (0-14) when they open play on Thursday. No. 2 seed Randolph (12-3) has Goodhue (5-15) come to their place. No. 3 seed Schaeffer Academy (10-9) will entertain Spring Grove (8-7). No. 4 seed Lewiston-Altura (6-13) will see No. 5 seed Rushford-Peterson (7-12) at the Cardinal field.

The second round is in Austin on Saturday morning and the tournament continues on Memorial Day in Austin in the west and the east goes to Winona State University.
