United South Central jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead at Bell Field in Faribault and had ample opportunity to add to their run total, but BA scored the 5-2 win on Thursday.

The Rebels out-hit the Cardinals 14-11 but stranded 13 runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the sixth and seventh innings. Faribault BA pitcher Anthony VanThomme went the distance, striking out four and not walking a batter.

Cardinals third baseman Isaac VanThomme threw out a runner at home and tagged out a runner trying to advance to third.

No. 8 batter Parker Wagner went three-for-three and scored two runs. In the third inning he singled to open the frame. Brendan Trump laid down a bunt and USC pitcher Trevor Stencel tried to throw out the lead runner but Wagner beat the throw. Alex Dunn put down a sac bunt and Peyton Glenzinski drove a ball to center field that allowed Wagner to tag up.

Bethlehem Academy added three in the fifth. VanThomme and Ben Jandro had RBI singles while another run scored on a throwing error. Wagner added an insurance run in the sixth. He singled and eventually scored on a two-out throwing error.

With the 5-2 win, BA squares the season series after USC won the first meeting 10-0. Bethlehem Academy (7-6) plays at a tournament in Mankato on Saturday. Monday the Cardinals go to No.1 Randolph with radio coverage on Power 96 Radio.

Friday's broadcast schedule on Power 96 involves a unique doubleheader. Kenyon-Wanamingo plays at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at 4PM, followed by the Cardinals playing the Bucs. Both games will be on Power 96.
