The Faribault Bethlehem Academy fastpitch softball team scored a 7-2 win over United South Central at Alexander Park on Thursday evening.

Freshman Delaney Donahue struck out 15 Rebel batters, walked four and hit two while allowing just three his in the contest.

It took a while for the Cardinals to get going at the plate. The score was 2-0 going into the fifth inning when Bethlehem Academy erupted for five runs to get some cushion heading into the final couple of innings.

The Cardinals scored in the bottom of the first when lead-off batter Tess Glenzinski doubled on a full count and stole third base. Brittany Degrood laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to score Glenzinski.

Degrood led the third inning off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Grace Viland. Degrood then stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Shelby Meyer.

With one out in the fifth inning, Degrood clubbed a single, Viland drove a 3-0 pitch for a double, Meyer legged out an infield hit to load the bases. Megan Donahue smacked a two run double on a 2-1 count. Jessica Oathoudt added a 2 RBI single, Katie Jasinski had a RBI.

Viland had two hits, Megan Donahue tallied two hits, Oathoudt collected three hits for the Cardinals in the victory.

United South Central scored their two runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Cardinals head to Medford for a 5PM game Friday while United South Central hosts Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at 4PM.

The Bethlehem Academy baseball team traveled to Wells and came home after a 14-4 six-inning loss thanks to a seven-run sixth for the Rebels.

Zac Van Thomme started the game and allowed just two hits but walked six batters while giving up five runs, four earned. He also fanned 11, according to the box score.

Each team had seven hits. The Cardinals had eight errors and the Rebels three.

Hunter Dienst and Luke Donkers had two hits each and Brendan Trump had a triple.

Bethlehem Academy plays in a tournament Saturday against Cleveland, Mankato Loyola and St. Clair at Franklin Rogers Field starting at 9AM.
