Last evening the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota hosted their annual benefit, Bowl for Kids' Sake, at J & J Bowling Center in Faribault. When I arrived the place was a flurry of activity as all the mployees and volunteers for this event were getting everything ready for the arrival of the Bigs, Littles and all the teams that were coming to bowl and support this fine organization.

The bowlers started arriving shortly before 5PM and before long the place was packed and abuzz with the sounds of children and adults having a great time. Prizes were being awarded left and right throughout the evening and it was fun watching the kids' faces light up when they won a prize, and there were a lot of equally delighted adults that won too.

Throughout the broadcast I was able to visit with several people I hadn't seen in a long time and I met a local author, Chris Norbury. He has written a suspense story set in northern Minnesota, titled Castle Danger. He was selling it at the event and helping to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota. I picked up a copy of the book, as it looks like an interesting read.

The night certainly seemed like a success and they're holding another Bowl for Kid's Sake today in Owatonna at Sparetime Entertainment between 9AM and 2PM. Find out more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota at bbbsofsouthernmn.org
