Cannon Falls authorities are asking for help to identify a suspect in the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl.

In a press release, Cannon Fall police said the attempt happened about 4PM Sunday at Lower Hannah's Bend Park. The police say a white man, possibly in his 20s, grabbed the girl and ran. The girl got away after the suspect put her down to catch his breath.

According to KARE 11, police say the man was described as 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with an animated cartoon on the left side, with the hood pulled over his head, hiding most of his face. He was wearing light, baggy blue jeans with holes in the knees, dirty black work boots and sunglasses with pink frames, according to police.

The KARE 11 report says authorities hope to speak with a father of two children who was at the playground before the abduction attempt happened if he has any information or saw anything out of the ordinary.

Authorities also would like anyone who was in the area of Hannah's Bend Park, Cannon Valley Fair Grounds or the new DNR bike trail from Cannon Falls to Lake Byllesby between 3PM and 5PM Sunday to contact the police at (507) 263-2278.
