Cannon River Mobile Home Park Receives Grant for Playground

The sounds of children enjoying new playground will soon be heard at the Cannon River Mobile Park in Faribault due to the nearly $50,000 Legacy Fund grant provided by the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee, or MNSBHC, as part of their 52 Weeks of Giving.

As part of this yearlong campaign, to include the entire state as part of the celebration of being the host for Super Bowl LII, 52 communities will receive grants to help improve the lives of Minnesota children.

Several local organizations were instrumental in securing this Legacy Fund grant, which will help rebuild a safe and fun playground that both the young and old alike will be able to enjoy. Those involved include the Cannon River Mobile Home Park management, Rice County Public Health, Faribault Public Schools, Rice County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership, and Growing Up Healthy.

I spoke with Josh Ramaker, Statewide Health Improvement Partnership coordinator at Rice County Public Health, and he stated that they hope to start this project this spring and they plan on installing playground equipment, a permanent garbage can to help keep the area clean, and a bike rack. He said residents of the mobile home park hope to host a couple of bake sales to help raise money to cover the cost of installing a bench. Maintenance of the playground will be the responsibility of the management of the Cannon River Mobile Home Park.
