Join Power 96 this Friday, August 18, for this summer's final Faribault Main Street Car Cruise and the 2nd Annual Car Club Showdown, on Central Avenue, in downtown Faribault! Several car clubs will battle it out for the chance to be awarded the ridiculously huge, one-of-a-kind, custom made trophy.

Bill Kubinski created this year’s trophy, combining a grill, wagon, welding skills, and a lot of creativity. Kubinski is a a skilled welder and mechanic, employed at car cruise sponsor Community Coop Oil Association, and enjoys creating unique projects in his free time. This year’s trophy is a fully functional grill, complete with grill accessories, a full propane tank, the red wagon has a diamond plated interior, and it is without a doubt, a one of a kind trophy.

Last year there were 204 cars in attendance at the Car Club Showdown, with the Drag Ons taking home the ridiculously huge trophy. Each club is asked to select 10 cars to represent their club, and provide a judge (who may not vote for his/her own club). The winning club receives the custom made ridiculously huge trophy.

This Friday is also Downtown Retail Night, with many shops remaining open until 8pm. This serves to highlight the retail options in downtown Faribault and connect consumers in town for the car show with local shops.

As in the past I'll be there crankin' the classic oldies and giving away prizes and there will be plenty of food and beverages available plus all the beautiful hot rods to check out at this Friday's Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night.
