If you are, or know someone majoring in agriculture at a two- or four-year college that is looking for a summer job, check with the Central Farm Service. CFS has a number of summer agronomy intern positions available at the Ellendale, Blooming Prairie, Owatonna and Kenyon locations. Brian Weller, lead agronomist with CFS, said they "believe in providing learning opportunities for college and technical school students pursuing a career in agriculture."

Over the years I have interviewed many of the summer interns at various plot days and other events CFS has been involved with. They all are very appreciative of the opportunity to gain some "real life experience" as a summer agronomy intern and they get paid. They are also a big help to CFS agronomists by scouting fields, for example. However, if they see something they are not sure about then they call on the Certified Crop Adviser agronomist they are working with.
