Recently I was asked to share with the listeners an aspect to my life that they might find interesting. It didn't take long to realize that one of my favorite things do is also very accessible on the internet. You can literally find tons of sites with all kinds of pictures and video for free. Of course I'm talking about my obsession with porn... more specifically abandoned porn. I really like checking out places from all over the world that have been left in a state of disrepair or non-use.

These pictures and videos are shot by curiosity seekers known as Urban Explorers. They often have to trespass into buildings and properties to get the perfect shot of a ghostly mansion or mental asylum. Often these buildings have already been violated by vandals and graffiti artists.

As cool as these places are to see, my personal favorites involve amusement parks that have been left to decay. For some reason, seeing a place that once held so much joy and now has been abandoned to slowly become a part of nature once again is more haunting than some of the sinister houses these Urbexes make their way into, sometimes under the cover of darkness. I also find it interesting when I come across pictures of places that are right here in Minnesota.

These building hackers are only there for the thrill of going into places that are somewhat frozen in time and there is an unspoken rule of urban exploring, which is "take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints." Unfortunately I haven't found anyone else in my circle of friends that shares this particular fondness, so I haven't been able to participate in these excursions into the forbidden. Also, there's that whole trespassing-is-illegal thing.
