The Defeat of Jesse James Day festival in Northfield starts next Wednesday and runs through Sunday, September 10. There’s a full slate of activities straight through the weekend, including bank raid re-enactments, live music, a carnival, rodeos, craft show, soap box derby, car show, truck and antique tractor pull and of course the Grand Parade at 2PM Sunday. Bring something comfortable to sit on and maybe an umbrella for shade because this is one long parade filled with floats, bands, Shriners, horses, cars, trucks and more.
If you can't wait until next week to partake in the festivities, then sharpen your best sleuthing skills and join in the Horseshoe Hunt that starts today and ends on Labor Day. Make sure you pick up and register a Defeat of Jesse James Days button to help support the event and ensure you score that $1,300 prize if you happen to stumble across the horseshoe, it's only a $300 if you don't have one.
