The Northfield school district did an investigation into teacher and coach Troy Cohrs after some unspecified allegations were made against him. He had been an English teacher at Northfield High School since 1997 and as the head coach for girls track and field, and girls soccer since 2001. Cohrs resigned at a special school board meeting Tuesday as a teacher. He had previously resigned as a coach on March 13th. Cohrs had also held the positions of NHS Knowledge Bowl advisor from 1998-2016, and was the one-act play advisor from 2007-16 and as yearbook advisor in 2008.

Cohrs was placed on administrative leave as the allegations came to light and the district conducted their own investigation.

According to the Northfield News, the resignation agreement signed by Cohrs March 21 and by School Board members Tuesday, calls for Cohrs' irrevocable resignation. He will be on paid administrative leave until the conclusion of the 2017-18 school year, which ends June 30. He will also receive monthly contributions to his health insurance premiums through 2018.

Assistant track coach Karl Viesselman will step in as the Raider girls head coach on an interim basis for spring 2018. No replacement has yet been hired for the girls soccer team.
