Here’s a couple of artists you probably haven’t heard much from in the past few years. Touted as guitar prodigies, these two blues rockers took the music scene by storm back in the mid-90s.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd released Trouble Is… which scored seven Top 10 singles, including his signature hit, “Blue on Black,” and also holds the record for the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart.

Fargo, N.D., native Jonny Lang started his career at the tender age of 13, relocated to Minneapolis and was known as “Kid Jonny Lang” (he has since dropped the “Kid” moniker). In January 1997 he released the critically acclaimed multiplatinum album Lie to Me. He followed that up with the October 1998 release of Wander this World, which earned him a Grammy nomination.

If you’ve been a big fan of these two, you’ll be glad to know that they’ve joined forces for the first time on tour. Lang and Shepherd will do a co-headlining tour beginning June 11 in Portland, Maine. Unfortunately as of right now, they’re tour is keeping them on the eastern side of the U.S., with the closest venue in Merrillville, Ind.

Hopefully, if this tour is successful for them, they’ll ad some dates that will take them across the U.S. and make a stop in the Twin Cities. If that happens, I’ll definitely be trying to score some tickets to the show.
