This coming Tuesday (March 18), Fathom Events will screen Elton John’s current Las Vegas show, ‘The Million Dollar Piano,’ in theaters nationwide. We have an exclusive video from that film.

The one-minute clip features John at his piano singing ‘Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters’ backed by Davey Johnstone’s mandolin and string ensemble 2Cellos. The song first appeared on 1972’s ‘Honkey Chateau’ and is one of his most beloved tracks. It was used to beautiful effect in Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiographical film, ‘Almost Famous.’

John launched “The Million Dollar Piano’ at the Colosseum in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace in September 2011 after the end of his first residency, ‘The Red Piano,’ which had 243 performances in its seven-year run. The new production features, true to its name, a Yamaha piano with 68 LED video screens. According to John’s website, construction of the piano took four years. He is set to begin another run of 16 performances of the show on March 29.

'The Million Dollar Piano' will also be shown in theaters on Wednesday, March 26. Check Fathom Events' website for a location near you.
