Additional Information

The Community Action Center of Northfield is hosting Bridges Out of Poverty: Applying Bridges Concepts, a workshop designed to provide education on poverty reduction and to introduce strategies that can be used to break down the barriers sustaining poverty, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 8:30AM to 3:30PM. The cost is $75, which includes lunch and program materials. The event will be at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Ave., Northfield, and will feature a presentation by Minneapolis-based speaker Jodi Pfarr. The event is appropriate for anyone who attended past Bridges Out of Poverty workshops or who has an interest in community poverty reduction. Continuing education credits are available.

This daylong workshop will introduce participants to the ways in which the public can tackle poverty to create healthy, vibrant communities. Participants will learn more about the importance of relationship building, mentoring and how to partner with people in poverty to create opportunities for success.

Speaker Jodi Pfarr has worked internationally since 2001 conducting seminars. She communicates and connects with diverse audiences, including police departments, judges, teachers, religious institutions, social services and fire departments. Pfarr describes her most inspiring moments during training sessions as when she sees audience members become conscious of how class has affected them personally.
