Faribault Falcon senior goalie Adam Johannsen executed pad save after pad save in a 2-1 win over the Austin Packers in Austin on Tuesday night.

Eighth-grader Olivia Williamson had a hat trick in the girls' 4-2 home win over the Packers.

There was a good crowd from Faribault that made the trip to Riverside Arena and they saw a good hockey game.

Johannsen made 38 saves and the Packers out-shot the Falcons 39-25.

The game was tied at a goal apiece after the first period.

Sophomore Cade Kletschka tallied Faribault's first goal on assists from senior Koy Payne and sophomore Jaymeson Susen at 9:53 of the first period.

Austin answered at 14:45 when Senior Dan Bollingberg redirected a junior Jace Greenman hard shot from the blue line into the net. Junior Brayden Merritt also received an assist on the goal.

Faribault sure killed off a bunch of penalty time in the second period. A major penalty was given to a Falcon for boarding, and during that five-minute major penalty Faribault was whistled for too many men on the ice.

Austin was not able to capitalize with a two-person advantage for 33 seconds and then Faribault killed off the remainder of the penalty for about seven minutes of penalty kill.

Faribault's game winner in the second period was buried by Payne with assists to seniors Connor Lipinski and Anthony Simons at 12:45.

Twenty-one seconds into the third period, the Falcons had another player go into the penalty box and Faribault successfully killed off that penalty.

In the third period alone Austin peppered the net with 22 shots on goal and Johannsen either had a pad or stick save or covered the puck and did receive some help from his teammates.

However I think the senior probably saw hockey pucks in his sleep Tuesday night.

Johannsen was named one of the Faribault State Farm Insurance Agents Faribault players of the game along with Kletscka and  Payne.

Faribault is now 1-1 and is at Mankato East at 1PM Saturday. The Austin Packers fell to 0-2.
