The Faribault Falcon boys hockey team was defeated 3-2 by the Mankato East Cougars in All Seasons Arena in Mankato Thursday night in a game broadcast on POWER 96 Radio.  Faribault collected seven penalties in the game and Mankato East five.  The first Faribault penalty came just :50 into the game and the Falcons just couldn't seem to get in any offensive flow.  The Cougars had two power play goals and the Falcons one.  East struck first and dominated a 1-0 first period.  The Falcons tallied both their goals in the second period, scoring 1:22 into the period on a Tyler Becker goal assisted by Christian Von Ruden and Austin Lewis.  Becker buried the puck in the net and then Von Ruden scored a highlight reel goal on the power play assisted by Becker at 13:29.  Senior Mankato East goaltender Will Behsman stayed down with Von Ruden coming toward the goal and Von Ruden simply lifted the puck over the shoulder of Behsman to tie the game.  The Cougars game winner was scored at 12:30 of the third period.  Faribault it's chances.  They couldn't score with a two man advantage early in the third period.  The Falcon penalty kill had been perfect on the season, but that went out the window 7:58 into the game.  Shots on goal were not included on the official stat sheet.  Both teams are now 2-2 in the Big Nine.
