The Faribault Falcon and Bethlehem Academy Cardinal softball teams both played at North Alexander Park on Tuesday evening.

The Falcons defeated Albert Lea 12-2 and the Cardinals fell to state-ranked Hayfield 6-2.

Hayfield pitcher Jacinda Gustine stymied the Cardinals, tossing a four-hitter while striking out three and walking three.

Maggie Streightiff had a solo homer and Olivia Matti collected three hits and an RBI and Carrie Rutledge had two hits for Hayfield.

The Vikings have been in the state rankings this season and were in the state tournament last spring for the first time in 21 years.
