Falcon Softball Splits Doubleheader with Hutchinson
The Faribault Falcon softball team had their seven-game winning streak snapped in the first game of a doubleheader with Hutchinson on Saturday but started a new one with a win in the second game.
Originally the Falcons were supposed to play Waseca in Hutchinson also, but Waseca had to reschedule a conference game and Faribault didn't want to make the long trip to play just one game.
Both games were low-scoring affairs. Hutchinson won the first game 3-2 and Faribault captured the second 2-1.
The Falcons are now 12-6 on the season and Hutchinson is 8-6. Both teams are in the same section and, if they go by QRF and I believe they do, the Falcons are sitting third and Hutchinson fourth. Mankato West is on top and Mankato East is second. Faribault has proven they can play with those state-ranked teams.
