The Faribault Main Street Downtown Business Challenge is back and we will get details on AM Minnesota at 9:30 a.m. today.  The challenge consists of submitting business ideas.  Any and all ideas are welcome.  The contest is open to anyone older than 18 who has a business idea for the historic downtown Faribault business district.  Preliminary business ideas must be submitted by May 30 to be considered.

A Faribault Main Street news release announcing the second year of the contest states, "The Downtown Business Challenge will consist of three rounds, with the winner receiving a prize package valued at more than $20,000."  Seven businesses ideas were submitted last year with Ruf Acres Market winning and receiving a package worth approximately $20,000.

The Main Street release goes on to say, "This is a great opportunity to learn more about the unique challenges and rewards of small business ownership as well as receive assistance through the process.

Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO North Johnson says, "Entries will be connected with Small Business Development Center and SCORE resources to really examine and complete a business plan. We're excited to see how many more entries come to the table with the idea of being part of our fabulous downtown."
