Faribault Falcons boys hockey Head Coach Dean Weasler was happy his team was able to overcome a "ugly" first period on "Ugly Sweater Night" at the Faribault Ice Arena.  The Falcons were buoyed by junior Braden Schroeder's hat trick with three power play goals in a 5-5 overtime tie.  They were Schroeder's first goals of the season.

Junior Leighton Weasler added 3 assists in the high scoring contest.  Rocket TeeJay Torgrimson opened the scoring with an impressive unassisted goal 8:25 into the game.  At 14:47 Junior Noah Murphy answered with assists from Weasler and sophomore Kory Johnson.  Thirteen seconds later John Marshall would regain the lead when sophomore Drew Lingen scored with assists from sophomore Sam Egen and senior Eric Bromberg.  Rochester John Marshall had 7 shots on goal in the period and Faribault 5 shots.

Torgrimson struck first again in the second, 3:02 into the period.  The goal was assisted by junior Shawn Sutton.  At 7:25 sophomore Sam King would bury the puck with an assist from senior Pepe Headlee Junior to give the Rockets a 4-1 lead.  Faribault closed out the period with two five on three power play goals from Schroeder.  The first assisted by Weasler and the second by Murphy and freshman Grady Goodwin.  John Marshall had 9 second period shots and Faribault 11.

The Falcons would dominate the third period allowing just 3 John Marshall shots on goal while they generated 10 shots.  Schroeder got his hat trick :36 into the third period assisted by senior Owen Williamson and Weasler.  Sophomore Jordan Nawrocki notched his first goal of the year at the 3:23 mark assisted by Weasler.

Faribault tallied 4 shots on goal in the overtime period and allowed just one shot by the Rockets.  Final shots were 30 for Faribault and 20 for John Marshall.  The loss dropped Faribault to 2-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Big Nine and the Rockets are now 1-1 in the league and overall.
