Faribault Fire Chief Dustin Dienst will be the guest on our AM Minnesota program at 9:30 this morning.

Chief Dienst has some fire safety tips and some other safety tips also to pass along to us.

Ice safety will be discussed in addition to all his fire safety tips.

The holidays are the top time of the year for fires in the home and most of them start in the kitchen.

I'm sure we will talk about carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.

The Faribault Fire Department has two engines, one 75-foot aerial ladder truck, one heavy-rescue truck, one rural tanker truck and two pickup trucks.

The department has three full-time personnel per shift, with a minimum of two firefighters working 24 hour shifts.

The officer-in-charge of the "on-duty shift" is the Incident Commander for all emergency calls.  That person has the option to respond with the on-duty personnel, request a "shift call", which is all off duty, full-time firefighters and 10 part-time firefighters, or an "all call", which pages all Fire Department personnel.

The Faribault Fire Department protects the city and 126 square miles in 3 and one-half townships surrounding Faribault.

If you can't tune in 9:30 a.m. go to www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio and watch a videotaping of the show.
