The Faribault Lakers' bats came alive Thursday night in an 11-0 seven-inning win over the Lonsdale Aces in DRS League action.

The Lakers' top five hitters in the lineup scored all but two of their runs and collected 11 of the team's 12 hits.

Faribault took advantage of some Lonsdale errors and ran aggressively on the bases while improving their season record to 8-5.

Jack Helgeson pitched all seven innings to get the shutout win while allowing seven hits. Helgeson struck out six and walked two and allowed multiple hits in only two innings.

The Lakers had been struggling at the plate this month and set the tone in the first inning. Blake Langerud walked with one out and Joe Grote followed with a single. Matt Lane got an RBI on a fielder's choice. Lane was retired at second during an Adam Jensen fielder's choice.

With Jack Helgeson at the plate, Jensen broke for second base and looked like he would be out, but stopped in his tracks and reversed course a couple of steps.

The Aces second baseman dropped the ball and Grote scored on the play while Jensen gained second base. Both runs were unearned.

Faribault sent eight men to the plate in the third inning and scored two runs while getting a little small ball going.

Lead-off hitter Mitch Johnson started the inning with a single. Then Langerud laid down a perfect bunt for a single and the Lakers were in business. Grote delivered a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position. Matt Lane smashed a double to right center field, plating two runs. Jensen added a single and went to second on the throw home while Lane stopped at third.

Grote opened the fifth inning with a single, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Lane hit a slow roller in the grass the shortstop charged and couldn't handle for another error scoring Grote.

Faribault scored six runs in the sixth with six hits and a Aces error.

Porter Sartor legged out an infield single to start the inning and with one out Dylan Valentyn walked.

The Lakers clubbed five straight hits, a couple were bloops but still hits.

Johnson had two hits, scored two runs and had an RBI. Langerud scored three runs, had two hits and an RBI. Grote collected three hits while scoring three runs. Lane had two doubles and five RBI. Jensen added two hits and an RBI.

Faribault clubbed 12 hits and committed no errors in the game while leaving five runners on base, four in scoring position. Helgeson threw 94 pitches, 62 were strikes.

Lonsdale had four errors in the game and left seven runners on base with four in scoring position.

The Aces had three pitchers throw in the contest, with Ryan Thompson starting and going the first four innings and giving up five hits. Thompson was also the only Aces player to collect more than one hit off Helgeson.

The Lakers host Prior Lake at 2PM Sunday for their next game. Lonsdale drops to 4-10 and is at New Market on Saturday at 3PM.
