The Faribault Lions Club 51st annual Pancake and Sausage Feast is this Sunday at the Faribault Eagles Club.

One of the original members of the organizing committee for the event 51 years ago, Ray Sanders, will be on today's KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30AM. Ray will be joined by another longtime member, Deb Wasserman.

Wasserman has traveled internationally for the Lions and her husband, Steve, is also heavily involved with the organization. I'll let Deb tell you why they have such a passion for the Lions Club.

Ray will give us some insight into the origination of the Pancake and Sausage Feast, which has seen the numbers go down over recent years but still serves a lot of people.

For a number of years well over 1,000 people indulged in the delicious pancakes and sausage. In recent years that number has dipped to between 800 and 1,000. Proceeds benefit Lions projects.

The Lions are heavily involved in vision and hearing projects, which is a natural for the Faribault Lions because of the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf being located here. Please remember to bring any old eyeglasses or hearing aids to Sunday's event.

Serving is from 7:30AM to 1:15PM.

The unique quitting time has been kept over the years because in the early years of the Super Bowl, kickoff was at 1:30, 1:45 or 1:50PM and 2PM.
