Prior to the start of the Faribault City Council meeting Tuesday night at City Hall, Mayor Kevin Voracek signed and read a proclamation designating August 1, 2017, "Night to Unite" in Faribault.

Voracek called Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen to the front of the room and presented him with the proclamation. Bohlen thanked the mayor and said his department is hoping to have the best event ever.

The Faribault police chief said about 16 neighborhood gatherings had been signed up thus far and said people can contact Community Service Officer Doug Delesha with his department if they would like to organize a block party.

Bohlen told the mayor requests for them to attend the parties were not as high as requests for Faribault police dogs Cannon and Chase.

Once again the Faribault Diversity Coalition will be hosting a party at the Faribault Buckham Center.

I was told there will be some traditional dancing again in one of the parking lots, weather permitting.
