The weather held out for a fantastic night attending the 77th annual Faribault Pet Parade. I have to admit that I haven't attended one in several years, but since two of my granddaughters were visiting we decided to load up the van and head down to Second Avenue to take in this year's event. Past parades had always been enjoyable and this year's showcase of children and their pets did not disappoint. There were several wonderfully costumed animals and participants, and I would have to guess that this was one of the longest Pet Parades I've ever attended. My granddaughters really seemed to enjoy seeing all the cute and funny pets.

I remember when I was younger, my best friend, Jerry, and I would decorate our mini-bikes and dress up to participate in the parade. We took third place two years in a row, although truth be told, including us there were only three entries each year. I'd also have to say that one of the main reasons we did it was just being able to ride our mini-bikes legally down the street.
