There are 208 robotics teams in Minnesota. Thirty of them will be going to state competition, and one of them is the team from Faribault.

According to Faribault Daily News, the team is a very diverse group of individuals. Their coach is St. Olaf professor Jason Engbrecht. He stated in the article that it is great to see a robotics team where everyone is accepting of each other.

The state competition is May 21 at Mariucci Arena.

The students not only get help from Engbrecht, but they have electronics, physics and engineering specialists at their disposal. Assistant coaches Peter Stenross and Phil Johnson help with design and building. MRG Tool and Die and Mercury Minnesota help with mentors and parts.

Engbrecht says the No. 1 key to the team's success is diversity. Twenty-six students contribute to the team. They say it has been a rewarding experience and it's one that can help your future.

The team is always in search of donations. You can get more information by contacting Jason Engbrecht at enbrech@stolaf.edu.
