It's hard to believe, but the final concert in Central Park in Faribault for 2015 will be on Aug. 20 (Thursday). The Faribault-based "Bandshell Brass" will be performing this concert, sponsored by Faribault Parks and Recreation, the Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior and the residents of Cardinal Point. A grant from the Minnesota Legacy Fund helps with these concerts as well.

The Bandshell Brass was formed nearly 20 years ago for area musicians who wished to continue playing brass instruments after high school and college. The band also includes gifted high school students who have been recommended by area directors. Joel Raaen, who started the band will be directing his last concert on Thursday.

The concert features arrangements of a Beatles tune, the Scotch Folk tune "Loch Lomond" and a medley of '60s pop tunes. The program will begin with some Civil War-era music.

En Plein View artists will again be working on their projects and the Girl Scouts will be selling treats.
