I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July this year. The weather was certainly perfect for outdoor activities and gatherings with family and friends. This year my wife and I, and my youngest daughter, her husband and my grandchildren, made our way to Waseca for a picnic supper with my oldest son, his wife and my grandson.

They grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken along with beans in the crockpot, potatoes, corn on the cob, chips, watermelon and a variety of other delicious treats. My son-in-law treated us to a small fireworks show before we packed the kids up and went to Clear Lake Park where they were hosting their annual Lakefest Celebration with the Freedom Fun Run/Walk in the morning, food and live entertainment in the afternoon and evening and their awesome fireworks spectacular to wrap up the event. They shoot the fireworks over the lake, so we found a nice spot on the beach and threw down a couple of blankets and set up a few chairs while part our crew went looking for mini-donuts, icees and onion rings.

As I stated earlier, the fireworks were awesome and they put on quite a show. My grandchildren really enjoyed them along with everybody in the park. Several boats were anchored out on the lake for an up close view of the aerial display. The fireworks started around 10PM and lasted about half an hour and capped off a perfect Fourth of July for my family.
