The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a flash flood warning for southern Washington County, southern Carver County, southeastern Hennepin County, Scott County and Dakota County until 11:45PM.

At 8:43PM, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. These storms have had a history of producing 2-4 inches of rain in less than 90 minutes. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include St. Paul, Bloomington, Eagan, Woodbury, Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Lakeville, Apple Valley, Shakopee, Cottage Grove, Inver Grove Heights and Savage.

Total rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches are expected within 2-3 hours.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots.
