The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a flash flood watch for parts of central and southern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin from 4PM Wednesday until Thursday morning.

Thunderstorms are expected to begin developing across the watch area Wednesday afternoon and continue into Thursday. Rainfall rates of 2 inches or more per hour could occur. The thunderstorms could also train across the area, leading to heavy rainfalls and flash flooding.

As of right now Rice, Steele, Dodge and Waseca counties are not included. But counties near the area that are include Carver, Dakota, Le Sueur and Scott.

Also there is the threat for severe weather across much of southern Minnesota tonight into tomorrow morning. Damaging winds, large hail and even a few tornadoes are possible. Keep an eye on the sky and we will keep you posted on the latest online and on the air.
