As much as five inches of rain fell in Owatonna over a 24-hour period, leading the National Weather Service to continue its flood warning through Wednesday afternoon. The warned area includes Steele, Freeborn, Faribault and eastern Waseca County.

Nikk Dickerson with the Owatonna Country Club reported 4.6-inches of rain in a 24-hour period in an early Wednesday morning tweet, adding the course and range are closed. He stated, "The river is still in its banks for now."

The weather service reported rainfall amounts of three to five inches across the warned area, "This had led to rising creeks, streams and rivers...Although no additional heavy rainfall in expected this morning, runoff is not complete." The warning continues through 2 pm September 5.

The weather service reminds motorists not to drive into flooded out roads, saying, "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."

Steele County Skywarn said, in a Wednesday morning tweet, Riverview Campground was relocating some campers to higher ground with the river two-feet from its crest.
