Yesterday as I chatted with Jack Lucking from Milo Peterson Ford in Kenyon on the Power 96 Morning Show, he mentioned that on the past sunny and steamy Saturday they had decided to go out to the car lot and see how hot the asphalt was after a day of old Sol shining down on it. They brought a temperature gun from the service department outside and found out that the surface of the lot was 154 degrees. Not something you'd want to run across in your bare feet.

I suggested that he should find a car with a dark interior later in the afternoon and see how hot it got inside after sitting in the sun all day. He picked out a Ford Fusion with a dark leather interior and at about 4PM he brought the temperature gun outside and measured the temperature. Despite the fact the day had become a bit overcast the results were still quite surprising.

Join Jack and myself this morning at 8:50AM and find out how warm it got inside that car. I'll give the first person who emails me the correct temperature a four-pack of Nickelodeon Ride Armbands for a day of fun inside the nice and cool Mall of America. Email your guess to mike.eiler@townsquaremedia.com, one guess per person please. Good luck and listen to the Power 96 Morning Show this morning to see if you win!

And as we make our way through the Dog Days of summer, please be aware that the inside of your vehicle heats up very quickly. Never leave children or animals unattended inside as the results can lead to damaging health conditions or death.

Update:

Congrats to Mel Hausen, the winner of the four-pack of Nickelodeon Ride Armbands. We stumped everyone on the recorded temperature of the Fusion's interior, but Mel had the closest guess at 135 degrees. Below is a picture of the actual temperature inside the car, available at Milo Peterson Ford in Kenyon.
