Rice County Fair Manager John Dvorak was on today's AM Minnesota program. The weather sure doesn't feel like we should be talking about the Rice County Fair, but it is only about three months away! Many of the grandstand events, free entertainment and other acts have to be lined up months ahead of the fair. John said many of them want to set their schedules so they can be in one state for a few weeks. They don't want to be in Illinois one week, Minnesota the next and then in Missouri.

The grandstand events are pretty well lined up. The NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull, Rodeo and Demolition Derby will be back. New this year in the grandstand is a battle of the bands. In addition there will be a new fair food, homemade chocolate chip cookies. The Rice County Farm Bureau, Faribault Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee, Rice County Fair and Nerstrand Agricenter will be sponsoring the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame. Nomination forms will soon be on the Rice County Fair website; I have them at the KDHL studio or you can contact Art Madsen at the Reliance Bank in Faribault.
