Do ever have one of those days where you just want to go lay down somewhere and sleep it off? One of those days where you hope that when you wake up from that nap everything will be fine but instead it seems to drag on? That's how the beginning of my week started out, but then I came into work and found a public service announcement in my mail bin that but a different perspective on my troubles. It made me ashamed to have even gotten worked up over the minor things that were on my mind.

It was a flyer talking about Miles Nelson, a young two year old boy from West Concord. This toddler and his family found out, only a week after celebrating his second birthday, that he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. According to the American Cancer Society, this little guy is now going to be subjected to chemotherapy and possibly a targeted therapy drug. At two years old, he's in a battle for his life.

This is a fight that will not be cheap and Team Miles could use your help. They are throwing a Cancer Benefit for Miles on Saturday, September 30, from 4PM to 12AM at the Dodge Center American Legion Post 384. There will be all kinds of interesting items available during the Silent Auction and 50/50 Raffle plus the evening wraps up with live entertainment. If you'd like to donate something for the auction or raffle or just need more info, call Yvette at (507) 421-6128 or Kaitlin at (507) 251-8361.

Let's all pull to together and help this little guy out so he can get back to being a kid.
