Katie and Ted Brenny of Mazeppa received top honors at the Minnesota Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture competition. The competition was held at the 100th Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting in Bloomington.

The contestants were judged on their involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, their involvement in Farm Bureau and other organization. Katie and Ted will represent Minnesota at the national competition at the American Farm Bureau Federation's Annual Meeting in New Orleans January 11-16, 2019.

The Brennys received a recognition plaque, $500 prize sponsored by Gislason & Hunter, a Tanaka leaf blower donated by J & M Chainsaws, a trip to the Young Farmer and Rancher conference in Bloomington January 25-26, 2019, plus a trip to Washington D.C.

"Opportunities are most often missed because they come dressed in overalls and look like work," said the Brennys. "We take many opportunities to share our farm story with others. Being an active member of Farm Bureau allows us to have these opportunities."

The Brennys are fifth generation farmers raising beef cattle. Ted works for the farm credit systems, and Katie works for an agriculture business company in digital technology. Thank you to Minnesota Farm Bureau Public Relations Director Kristin Harner for the news release!
