A longtime necessity in Kenyon becomes a reality Saturday with the dedication of their new Fire Hall.

I'll be broadcasting from 11AM to 1PM thanks to the Security State Bank of Kenyon, Held Bus Service in Kenyon, Kenyon Ace Hardware and Kenyon Senior Living. The open house is from 11AM to 2PM.

The open house features demonstrations of the fire trucks and equipment, including the Jaws of Life. Milo Peterson Ford of Kenyon donated a car they will be demonstrating the Jaws of Life on, and if you have never seen how this works it's fascinating and highly recommended to watch.

Refreshments will be served for the open house.

The annual benefit dance was moved to Saturday and features three groups. There is a $10 cover charge for the annual dance.

  • 6-8:30PM: The Polka Dots
  • 8:30-10PM: The Plott Hounds
  • 10PM to 12:30AM: Chad Edwards Band.

City Administrator Mark Vahlsing told KDHL this week the city is taking requests for proposals for the old fire hall and several people stopped by City Hall to receive the packet of information to submit an RFP.

I hope to see you Saturday at the Kenyon Fire Hall, 620 Centennial Drive, across from Foldcraft in Kenyon.

By the way, the roses are in full bloom along the Boulevard of Roses in Kenyon.
