The Kenyon-Wanamingo nights got their third straight shutout on Friday night as they traveled to Medford for the Tigers' homecoming game. The Knights won 47-0.

The Tigers, who had a close battle with Bethlehem Academy the previous week, were unable to get much offense going. For the game the Knights outgained the Tigers 463-235. Mark Dorenkamp, who joined KDHL on the broadcast, pointed out on Friday night that the Knights have outscored opponents 124-0 in the past three weeks.

KW quarterback Jack Beulke was very good. He went seven of eight for 179 yards and three touchdowns, finding Gavin Roosen for a 24-yard score on a third down in the first to make it 7-0 early. Steberg added a 17-yard run and K-W led 14-0 after the first.

It was Steberg three more times in the second, scoring on a fourth-and-goal from the 3 on a short pass from Beulke with 8:23 left in the quarter. He added a 2-yard run and was open for a 62-yard touchdown catch, making it 33-0 at halftime.

For the Tigers, Marcus Deleon, who had several touchdowns against the Cardinals last week, was held to just 75 yards by the Knights. A halfback pass set Medford up inside the K-W 10-yard line, but the Tigers’ second-and-goal play was fumbled and recovered by the Knights near the end of the first half.

The Tigers recovered a K-W fumble in the third at the Medford 10-yard line. A few plays later and Bradley Kish picked off Javis VonRuden for a 31-yard interception return touchdown. Tyler Ryan had a 68-yard rush, getting taken down at the 1-yard line. And they scored a short time later, near the end of the game.

The Knights tied with Blooming Prairie for the district lead, at  4-1 and 4-0. Up next for K-W is a 2-3 USC team that was just shutout by Bethlehem Academy, a game set for 7PM Friday in Kenyon. Medford faces Blooming Prairie on the road. Mankato Loyola forfeited to Blooming Prairie on Friday night.
