A new year is here, and many people are busy making resolutions and excited for a clean slate. A new year is certainly a great time to make plans for the future, but it's also a good time to reflect on the past year.

I don't think a year can be summed up as easily as good or bad. I've personally never had a year that didn't have a few hard moments, and at least a few positive memories as well. 2014 was no exception to the rule with a mix of high and low (hopefully mostly highs).

In 2014, I was honored to be part of a wonderful wedding, and was able to help my grandparents celebrate a big anniversary! There were graduations, babies , engagements and weddings to celebrate this past year. There were also funerals, watching loved ones struggle with health concerns, and stress. I traveled to new places and once again reported live from the National FFA Convention. I was lucky enough to spend time with family and friends. I had a harsh reminder that I am not invincible. I met interesting new people and expanded on skill sets. I learned that there are a finite number of hours in the day, but I'm still trying to best utilize them.

In the last year, I was nominated for Best Radio Personality in the Southern Minn Scene Best Of Edition. I witnessed amazing sunsets, firework shows, and beautiful days. I went camping and listened to live music. I saw this community, this station, and my family, friends and family change and grow. Another year was added to my age.  I experienced great generosity that I can't begin to say enough thank you's for. I have experienced days of sadness, frustration, excitement and great joy.

It was a busy year, and while things weren't always perfect, there were certainly a lot of really great times this year as well. I'm hoping to remember the good, learn from the bad, and keep on going. 2015 is here, and there is more to do! Sometimes I look back and its hard to remember all the little moments that comprised the year. Before writing this post, I had to really think back about everything that had occurred throughout 2014. I've seen an idea floating around the internet that I might have to implement this year, taking a jar out and writing down favorite moments or memories. Not every day may have something, but I am sure there are at least a few moments each week worth placing in the jar. Then next year, I can look back and be reminded that there are a million little happy moments!

I hope you had a great 2014, and that 2015 brings you great things as well!
