Last Friday night, downtown Faribault was filled with four blocks of fantastic vehicles for the Faribault Main Street Car Cruise and Car Club Showdown. It was the final and biggest event of the summer and drew a large crowd and an amazing array of vehicles! In total there were 204 cars in attendance on a beautiful Friday evening!

Bragging rights to make any car enthusiast green with envy, 10 t-shirts for the winning club, and one ridiculously huge, custom-made, one-of-a-kind trophy specially crafted for the first Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night Car Club Showdown were all on the line during the event in downtown Faribault! Some of the clubs in attendance included the Faribo Drag Ons, Sundowners, Open Wheel Cruisers, MN Challengers, Heavy Hitters and the NIVA Car Club. After the judges made their way through the four blocks of vehicles, the ridiculously huge, custom made trophy was award to the winning group, the Faribo Drag Ons.

Always a free event, Power 96’s Mike Eiler provided the music creating a great soundtrack to the event, which was set against the backdrop of downtown Faribault's historic buildings. Also in attendance and drawing a lot of interest were the Gopher Motorsports – UMN Formula SAE race car and team and the University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project and team.

Dates have been set for the Faribault Car Cruise Nights for next summer and will remain on the third Friday of the month during the summer. Dates are May 19, June 16, July 21, and August 18.
