St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Court of Appeals has a rejected a Burnsville man's request to overturn his conviction and sentence for fatally shooting a man at a State Park near Albert Lea a few years ago.

28-year-old David Easter was convicted last year of second-degree murder for the death of Spencer Brown and was sentenced to over 25 years in prison. Easter fatally shot a rural Freeborn County man during a confrontation at a campground in Myre-Big Island State Park in August 2016 and the jury rejected his self-defense claims.

In his appeal, Easter tried to argue that he was denied a fair trial because of errors made by the judge in the case. He also tried to argue the judge improperly imposed the 306-month prison sentence he is currently serving.
