Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ First Look: Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill Returns for “Nothing Personal”
Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' had an hour to catch its breath in this past week's "Providence," following the game-changing events of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' but Coulson and the team aren't the only ones in need of a catch-up. Fresh off the 'How I Met Your Mother' series finale, Cobie Smulders will return Maria Hill to the forefront in antepenultimate 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' episode "Nothing Personal," and we have the first look at Maria's new gig!
You're warned of spoilers both for the current season of Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' but it seems Agent Maria Hill might have dropped the "Agent" after the events of 'The Winter Soldier' saw S.H.I.E.L.D. in shambles, leaving Maria to take a job with Stark Industries. It remains to be seen exactly what position we'll find Maria in under Tony Stark (cough), though the first photos of April 29 installment "Nothing Personal" see a dressed-down Maria Hill happy to see Coulson alive and well.
Says ABC of Smulders' return in "Nothing Personal":
“Nothing Personal” – Just when there’s no one left to trust, Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) — from “Marvel’s The Avengers” and “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Solider” — returns to team up with Coulson as S.H.I.E.L.D. is being destroyed around them.
In the meantime, next week's "The Only Light in the Darkness" will see Whedon fan-favorite Amy Acker guesting as Coulson's oft-mentioned cellist, while Patrick Brennan portrays the superpowered menace of Marcus Daniels, aka Marvel's Blackout. Don't forget, Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson will also return for the season finale, while ABC has yet to make a formal decision on a second season.
While we wait, take a look at Maria Hill's post-'Cap' 2 return in the photos below, and give us your predictions for 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' as it heads into the finale!
