Mental Health Awareness Month is May, and that is the topic we tackle on the KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30AM today.

Dr. Eric Lundin is a licensed psychologist in Faribault and will be our guest to discuss Steven Covey's best-selling book, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

Wednesday's AM Minnesota program we spoke with Chief Deputy Mark Dukatz of the Northfield Police Department. He told us he has enjoyed his 20-plus years of work in law enforcement and I asked about the biggest challenge facing police these days.

Dukatz said officers are going on more calls involved people suffering from mental illness.

Sadly, there are no resources to treat these people who are taken to jail or prison and really don't belong there. Dukatz said they need help and added he has been on transports of people to Fargo from Northfield due to the lack of mental health facilities.

"The 7 Habits of HIghly Effective People," according to Steven Covey, which we will discuss on the show are:

  • Be proactive
  • Begin with the end in mind
  • Put first things first
  • Think win-win
  • Seek first to understand then be understood
  • Synergize
  • Sharpen the saw

I always enjoy my visits with Dr. Lundin and hope you can tune in either live on the radio or www.kdhlradio.com or watch the program on our YouTube channel.
