May is National Bike Month, and with the warmer temperatures, its the perfect chance to pull your bike out of winter storage and take it for a spin! Make sure to check out some of the bike-related fun scheduled during the month too!

The River Bend Nature Center is hosting a bike challenge during the month of May. Riders may pick up a map and are encouraged to bike all 10 miles of the trail system during the month. People who complete the challenge and report back with some of what they saw have a chance to get a reward.

May 4 is National Bike to School Day. And on Saturdays -- May 7, 14, 21 and 28 -- there are several chances to go biking with a group in Faribault. Meet at Bernie’s Grill at 7AM to be in the first group. The “Road Riders,” which is fastest and furthest group, leaves Bernie’s Grill at 9:15AM. The “Trail Riders,” who will bike to Morristown, leave the Dairy Queen parking lot at 9:15AM, and the “Relaxed Riders” will pedal to Warsaw from the Dairy Queen parking lot at 9:15AM. May 16 kicks off National Bike to Work Week and you can receive a free small coffee with purchase of a baked good at the Coffee Shop and Chocolate Haven as well as 20 percent off a tune-up at Mill Town Cycle in Faribault when you stop downtown on your way to work. May 20 is National Bike to Work Day -- patrons who bike to Buckham Memorial Library will get a prize. Additionally, you can bike to happy hour after work at F-Town Brewing Company in Faribault from 3-6PM. Receive $1 off the price of each beer, plus $1 per beer sold will be donated to Cannon River Off-road Cycling & Trails.
