It's time to get outside and party with your neighbors during this evening's Nite to Unite (Tuesday, 8/1). Also known as National Night Out, this annual event will be going on in neighborhoods throughout the surrounding communities. In Faribault, a few dozen block parties will be hosted from 6-9PM. It’s a way for neighbors to get to know each other and help promote community safety. This gathering helps to heighten drug, violence and crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood ties with local law enforcement along with support and participation in local anti-crime programs and help send a message that crime will not be tolerated within the community.

At many of the area get-togethers there will be food, games and the police or fire department may be making an appearance, with the K9s being a favorite with the kids. I hope to see you out and about tonight. I know I'll be stopping by the party being hosted by the Buckham Center from 5-7:30PM; they'll have a bunch of fun activities to take part in plus there will be some emergency vehicles there for the grandkids to check out.
